How Enact Adjusts Dimensions for Tilted Roofs: From 2D to Reality

When designing a tilted roof in Enact, the initial dimensions are drawn in a 2D plane. However, as the user marks key points, the system intelligently detects the roof’s tilt and automatically adjusts the dimensions to reflect the true 3D measurements.

1. Starting with 2D Dimensions

At the beginning of the "Draw Roof Outline" process, users define the roof layout by placing points in a two-dimensional space at the edges of the roof.

2. Detecting the Tilt

Once the necessary points are placed, Enact’s system analyzes the input and determines the roof’s slope based on:

  • The relative height differences between points
  • Known pitch angles from the roof structure

3. Auto-Adjusting Dimensions

After identifying the tilt, Enact dynamically recalculates the measurements:

Length Adjustments: The system updates distances to reflect the actual 3D lengths instead of their 2D projections.

Why This Matters

Without this automatic adjustment, traditional 2D drawings could lead to miscalculations in roof area. Enact eliminates these issues by seamlessly transitioning from a simple 2D layout to a fully realized, true-to-scale 3D model.

This smart feature enhances efficiency, reduces errors, and ensures that every measurement aligns with the real-world structure—saving time and improving accuracy in roofing and solar installations.
