PVCAD Ground Mount : Overview
Welcome to our guide through PVCAD Mega, an AutoCAD based program built for distributed generation and utility scale solar projects. PVCAD Mega contains two modes – “Standard” for rooftop projects <5MW and Utility mode projects for all ground mounted projects. We have written the guide in a concise, straightforward manner for simple onboarding, and tutorials.
PVCAD Mega is a solar design software built specifically for engineers, designers, and developers working on photovoltaic (PV) systems. It runs within AutoCAD and automates many aspects of solar project design, making the process faster, more accurate, and compliant with industry standards. PVCAD Mega is built to create efficient and cost-effective PV engineering drawings for detailed solar system planning, design, and structural/electrical analysis.
- Automated Solar Layouts – Quickly place solar panels on ground-mount systems while optimizing spacing and shading.
- Structural & Electrical Analysis – Ensures designs meet wind, snow, and load requirements based on local codes.
- Topography – Calculate pier schedules and adjustments to your layout needed for topographical constraints
- Plan Sets – Works within AutoCAD, allowing users to create detailed, precise engineering drawings
- Bill of Materials (BOM) Generation – Auto-generates a complete list of materials needed for the project.
- Energy Production Estimates – Uses both internal and external simulation tools to predict system output based on weather, shading, and orientation.
- Code Compliance – Designs are compliant with NEC, ASCE, IBC, and UL standards
